Getting here
By Car:
- Mount Desert Island: If you’re driving from Boston, take I-95 north to Augusta, Maine. From there, follow Route 3 east to Ellsworth and continue on to Mount Desert Island. Alternatively, continue on I-95 north to Bangor, Maine, and then take Route 1A east to Ellsworth. Once in Ellsworth, follow Route 3 to reach Mount Desert Island.
- Schoodic Peninsula: To reach the Schoodic Peninsula, travel north on I-95 to Bangor, Maine, and then take Route 1A east to Ellsworth. In Ellsworth, head north on U.S. Route 1 for approximately 17.3 miles until you reach Hwy 186. Turn right onto Hwy 186 and drive 6.5 miles, then turn left at the yield sign. Continue for another 0.5 miles and then turn right onto Schoodic Loop Road.
By Plane:
Direct flights from Boston’s Logan Airport land at Hancock County Airport, which is located just 10 miles from Acadia National Park. For those coming from other locations, national airlines serve Bangor International Airport, situated about one hour away from the park. Car rental services are available at both airports, making it convenient to reach your destination once you’ve landed.
